Hidey Ho peeps!

Ive been lazy.  Thoughts of creating posts, then by the end of the night I just don’t want to, so I havent.

Tonight Im a bit jumpy thanks to being on the wrong side of ick and taking some real sudafed to help keep my head unclogged.  Sudafed has side-affect for me that makes my heart race and nerves jumpy.  All that keeps me really awake for a good hr then I get to fight the crash.

So as Im on the jumpy side of that noise I have energy to burn so to speak and I have some new finishes to show and other updates to share along with sharing my WIPocalypse and IHSW posts.

The yarn from this is from a scoody (scarf-hood) I made a couple years ago that I just havent worn so I thought to rip that out and create something that I would/might wear or gift to someone who will

I have a scarf that will go with the hat that I will show when its completed.  It has front & back post stitches along with shells and looks pretty and I think complements the hat well.

Im taking a break before starting the next sheep.  All sheep-ed out at the moment.

LHN Neighborhood

I have been working on LHN Neighborhood – total blast from the past.  Looking back though updates, last time I may have touched this is in 2010 so its in dire need of some needle time. 2010

I do have a bit more done than the above pic and have decided to frog the lady currently stitched and just leave them out.  The people have always bothered me and Im just choosing not to stitch them.  Not sure if they will be replaced with other items or just leave the voids.

Ive also have Ladies’ Night by Cricket Collection mostly fully kitted.

I have a 28ct fabric (CS Gothic) that I picked out years ago – for this project, that I have been thinking about going to a 32ct but as of today Im sticking with what Ive got.  1) finding another fabric to go with the ladies is hard. 2) Ive already got it – paid for it, and its in my stash now.  That said, when I finally get around to stitching this, my mind may have been changed again but that’s for then.  Thread is as charted but I may not use Kreinik for the braid, still thinking that over.

Well, that’s all Ive got for now.  Im off to get a few other things completed while the energy is buzzing.

Oh the things I do for people.  Case in point - work friend of mine sends me an IM bemoaning the A Team theme that is stuck in his brain.  Being the helpful person I am (and the YouTube app on my phone) Im able to find the theme and play it loud for him :p!!

Very Good Day

Thank you so much for the Birthday Wishes.  It was wonderful to see and read all the emails/comments throughout the day.

Ive learned that since my birthday lands in the “after Christmas dead zone” I have to speak up a day or so ahead and remind people.  Not something Im comfortable with doing and obviously fell out of practice when I grew out of childhood (I know I had to shout it from the mountains then – dont all kids?)

Another fun tradition I started last year is me cooking my birthday dinner.  Sounds a bit wrong but I get everything I want and can bet on having leftovers for lunch the next day.  A gift that keeps giving :p

Tonight’s menu is:

Morton’s tri tip (Costco)

Homemade jojo potatoes

Salad with White Vinaigrette dressing, Blue Cheese crumbles, & dried cherries (Costco)

Rolls

Dessert – three signature ice cream mixes from Cold Stone.  After Dinner Mint (only available during Christmas/Winter), Mud Pie and Founders with Almonds.

D got me Zumba for the Xbox Kinect.  Will be waiting for at least tomorrow before trying it out.  Too much ice cream tonight :) 

This has been one of those weeks where Im so thankful I have one of those microwave-able herb packs at work.  its been sooo cold its been about the only thing that will get me warmed back up.  3 min of wait and 15 min of wonderful warmth

Today I started Snowy Globe by Cross-Eyed Cricket.  I was only able to get one piece of thread stitched.  Im pleased with even that much due to how full the day was.

Winterizing

Well I did part of what I set out to do this weekend and winterizing the outside of the house, or at least basic yard maintenance.  Lawn is mowed, weeds whacked and bushes trimmed if not completely cut down.  Totally hoping its the last major outing needed for this year (too much to hope for?).

I forgot to take allergy meds before hitting the brave outdoors and am now paying for it with extremely itchy eyes, filling sinuses and sneezing my head off.  I just need to get used to the fact the outdoors is trying to kill me and remember to medicate before going out to play.

P did a lot of work, and we have more tomorrow as gutters still need to be cleaned out.  DL helped mow the back yard.  Still doesnt have the oomph to push the power mower but he did pretty good for what he did do.  Then his “hands couldnt take it any more” (his words not mine) and I finished the last little bit.  Total team effort! :o)

Stitch updates – I actually have some pictures to share!  I know, Im beside myself too :P

Celtic Banner – Just a bit added to the border.  Im using called for thread for the boarder.  May pull out Pine Forest and use Storm Clouds (which is what I planned on except for my initials)

Three Gables – Almost done with the easy stuff and this will be staying as a home project.

 

Love Bunnies – Finished the bunnies and now working on grass.

 

Flying Monkeys – Still working on the letters

Mish-mash

Is it wrong to dislike what may be the last bit of good weather of summer?  I was placed in such a good fall mood last week that I'm missing the dreary grey clouds and mist/rain. We now have wonderful sun, not too hot, almost breezy for a light sweater or jacket.

The acts of forgetting most needed items for school have begun. Elder son forgot to tell or remind me of at lest two things last week (which resulted in lots of driving around looking for elusive heffalumps) and already missing items this week (it's only Monday!!). I'm waiting for son #2 to start in...  And Boy #1 made my point again tonight!  Thankfully it didnt involve any gasoline (good thing as Ive already changed into my not-going-anywhere-else-comfy-clothes) but did involve raking my brain to remember milestones of his life so far.  Bad mom that I am I dont have baby books for either of my kids.  Nor do I scrapbook (although thanks to my awesome mil they each have one).  What I do have is a somewhat ok memory.  And I was able to pull some funny tidbits out of my brain, first airplane ride, first tooth, first camping trip and so on.  Also added some sad ones such as Homer (cat – first pet) passing last year and the first person he knew personally passing away 5 years ago (My paternal grandma).  More than enough to get his brain going.

Stitchy update – I found the camera!  And no it hadnt been put away, just hidden under computer stuff.

First off, thank you so much for your wonderful comments on Indian Summer.  Im happy to be able to share a fun project with others, see what others have done with their fabric and thread choices and finishes.  I had the fabric picked for the BBD Halloween stockings but it was perfect for this as well.

Three Gables – Last time I worked on this was late last fall.  Poor thing was practically screaming for x’s to be added.  As Im doing filler work, this is my current train project

Renaissance Angel – Shes had more recent x’s added (March) but she was also started after Three Gables.  I was able to finish her, need to work on the wings and bs and she will be done.  Then its the fiddly-bits on either side.  Lots of satin stitches and those are taking much thinking (and painful at that)

Quaker Stocking – not much was added, was trying to stitch on this while on the train back from PAX, too much jostling and the thread was wanting to knot up in the worst way.

Today has been a wonderful day to catch up.  Calm day at work, not much catch up but nice it was calm.

Spent the night watching dvr’d shows and reading blog posts.

Final post for Blogtoberfest!

Today started out with me changing positions in bed and the gruesome twosome deciding that was the message it was time to get up and play.  So after spending 15 min booting them off the bed and keeping my toes from getting attacked I got up

Caturday had over 500 posts by the time I logged in.  Had fun looking at the lolcats created, kept some for my screensaver, and posted some of my own.

Tonight I took the boys out instead of D.  P was invited to go trick or treat with a friend so I took both boys and we went out with another family.  Went early so it felt really weird to finish early.  But everyone had their bags filled.

I was able to get a start on Midnight Watch

Im very happy I stayed with GA’s Gingersnap.  It’s a wonderful fall-ish orange and looks so pretty.

and the weekend just wasnt long enough.  Never are but worse when D has to work Saturdays.  Played catch-up today, had to run back to the stores to pick up stuff I missed yesterday.  I hate that.  But it gave me the opportunity to run by Joann’s and pick up threads for Welcome October by With Thy Needle and Thread.  I thought I had fabric for this as will but its currently hiding.

Brain cramps

Who knew picking out names for kitties could be so exhausting?  We have one picked for the girl (and you all have to wait to find out) but the boy is giving us fits.  Mainly cause we just cant agree.  She can be such a lady, at times.  He however has fire ants in his pants most of the time.

And they’ve taken over my office chair!

I was able to work a bit last night on Nora’s Letter N and got some beading done. 

 

Watched Year One while stitching.  Just cant get in to the funny-ha-ha’s of this one.
