Silly birds

A mother duck to be precise.  This one chose to make her next and lay 6 eggs in the middle of the park & ride.  True there is shrubbery and a really big, tall, pine tree but it still a parking lot.

We surprised each other while I was walking from my car (which was parked NEXT to the wetland area where she should have made her nest).  She quacked quietly at me and waddled off to the other side of the island oasis she had made her nest in.

I walked by (although not as close) on my way home but she was no where to be seen.  Im planning on bringing a piece of bread tomorrow and will share if she is close by.  I dont want to leave it if she is not as there are starlings (nasty little black things they are) and seagulls around and they would not be welcome house guests for her.

First day back at work with my new eating habits was hard.  Actually it was after work that I slumped a bit.  My stomach took hold of my arms & hands and force fed me turkey jerky and Special K.  Just couldnt wait the extra 45 min it took to make dinner (so sad).  I was good and marked everything down and just made sure that I get no snacks after dinner tonight.  Im still just under the total but over in sugar and protein for the day.  Still learning just how over I can go with protein over carbs so Im not too worried about that.  The sugar though, not good.  Wasnt even in strawberries – which are sliced and waiting in the fridge ready to eat.  Better choices tomorrow!!

Stitchy updates!

Noah & Crew – The boat is done (except for back stitching).  The waves are close then the animals and all that wonderful (not!) backstitching.

Time off

I was able to turn off the work computer for a few hrs Thurs & Friday and had a good quiet weekend with the family.

It has been a very quite spring break on the home front.  P got sick, flu of some sort, Tues night and just started feeling normal (well, normal for a 12 yo) Sat afternoon.

I have been keeping up with the workouts, adding additional besides and keeping within the needed calorie intake I should have.  Wii Active has a rest day every third day and while I didnt get on the treadmill this past week on rest days, I will be starting tomorrow.  It wont be working all the muscles the Wii Active workouts do but it will get the heart pumping.

Im hoping Ive gotten the bod used to the idea of workout first thing, then shower (obviously :P) then food.

The killer will be getting up at 5am as this week the whole family has been lazy and anyone up before 8am was surprising.

Stitching stuff!

After finishing up Midnight Watch I gifted myself a new chart, LHN Holly & Berries.  I have been good and not starting on it – yet.  I pulled out an oldie, Noah & Crew by Mosey ‘N Me.  I dont have that much left and would be nice to complete it this year.

Here is a pic the last time I posted, a bit more was added between this post and when I started back up this weekend.  I will post an update soon.

In case there are those that havent heard the news, Carriage House Samplings is closing down.  Sad news indeed.  Ive placed my order for Quaker Socking, thinking it would be nice to make stockings for me & D while the boys have what they have picked out.

Now Im off to do what the duo of chaos were caught doing on the bed with the clean laundry (I know – shocker!)

Stitchy updates

I've been working a bit on one of the old projects and more on the new. Sad bit of affairs that is eh? The old projects sit next to me and beg to be worked on but the new are so fun! Such is life.

I worked a bit on Noah & Crew last night and in addition to what was added during Friday's SAT, the boat is almost completed (yea!). And then its on to all the backstitching...

On Tanglewood, 2 more branches are ready for the outline stitching. Which makes it even easier to stitch on MAX.

The tree on Midnight Fright also received a few more branches - after I removed the frog that had made a home there.
Dad Update
He is back home. Sleeping when I called to catch up on things. Not much of an update but good news that he is back home. I do know he hates these set backs
Knowing there is still a bunch of stuff at the house left to be moved, Ive asked mom to pack boxes so they will be ready for me to come and pick up a load thurs or friday (or both) as I will be working from home - Parent teacher conf for DL. Im hoping that mom wont spend a lot of time there trying to move stuff on her own (or have dad try and move stuff - which he has!!). Only thing I did request is that the boxes not be too heavy as it would be just me and the boys and they cant lift much.

Lets Stitch SAT

Im joining in BeckySC's SAT. I figured that even if I wasnt able to get in the blog theres no reason why I cant play along.

Before I show my pre-SAT pic of the project chosen I want to show update pic of Tanglewood.
Ive got one branch completed and another ready for outline stitches with another close behind. This project has been great to stitch while riding MAX to and from work.
Now on to the SAT project. Noah & Crew is a Christmas gift for my BIL, that is if its completed by Christmas :oP
Dad update
As far as I know he is doing good. Good nights sleep is a bit difficult to come by as he is on a aero bed that seems to have a small leak. His new Select Comfort bed has been orderd and we are just waiting for it to be delivered. So far the darn thing hasnt even been shipped. *sigh. I will be taking the boys over for a visit tomorrow afternoon.

Noah update

I so wanted to show an update to Noah & Crew but wouldnt you know I left my cross stitch at work! I was so bummed that I started a new project :P Had to have something to do while D played GTA IV. not sure what the pattern is called but its basically a caricature of a blue bird with large orange shoes. Thought it would be perfect for the tree, little blue bird of happiness and all that.

Hope to remember to bring home Noah and get a pic to show.
