Fun at the Fair

Ok not really.  It was fun stitching with friends (Hi Laurie & Jennifer!) but it was hot and not fun standing in lines.  Thankfully the needle arts are in an air conditioned building.

News from this year’s fair!

I wasnt going to enter Tanglewood but changed my mind.

Tanglewood 7-31-2011 Fair

Also entered Bethlehem (White Ribbon)

Bethlehem 7-31-1-2011 Fair

And Quaker Alphabet (Blue Ribbon)

Quaker Alphabet 7-31-2011 Fair

Very exciting to say the least.  I am glad I entered Tanglewood.  There still werent a bunch of cross stitch entries, about three tables.  There were more variations  (charts, kits, small, large) and two large HAEDs.  Nice to see the differences.

So many clicks

Ok I use a couple of gadgets to track how many visitors I get, one of these is a beta through Blogger for stats.  Someone must have been refresh happy as it shows 116 hits in one hour!  Dang!  If only that were the case but unfortunately other gadgets are not showing the same thing.  Love playing with Beta stuff :oP

P was very pleased with how well his new glasses were received at school.  Lots of people said he looked good.  Warm fuzzies!

Stiching updates!  Yup, Ive even got pictures :op

Celtic Autumn – I finished the hair (minus beads)

Celtic Autumn 10-12-10

Celtic Banner – Still adding more of the border.  I will be pulling out the green letters and replacing them with a blue color.  I was (and may still) use the green for my initials.  Time will tell if I can fight the urge to do that.

Mother Maya – Still battling that bird motif and I will win!

Mother Maya 10-12-10

Pumpkins Three – Still going strong for my first 40ct project.  Im loving my choice of cherry bark on Havana

It Sucks!

My New Vacuum!

image

Its an LG.  Has a Hepa filter, wand, magnetic hose and retractable cord (thats a nice bonus) and it SUCKS!!  I can say it was disgusting to see just how much my old (and non-sucking) vacuum did not clean.

I was easily talked out of the Eureka AirSpeed by D.  He didnt like the fact that the only place you can get it was Walmart.

Movies - I love watching Pride & Prejudice, the one with Keira Knightly as Elizabeth Bennet and Matthew Macfadyen as Mr Darcy.  Dame Judy Dench plays a wonderful Lady Catherine – the person you just have to hate.

I do have to admit, Ive never read the book and now I want to read Pride & Prejudice & Zombies after listening to Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter.

New project start

Found Denise’s version of La-D-Da’s Pumpkins Three and just had to do something similar.  So I went and got the stuff to get started!

Pumpkins Three 10-8-10

40ct Weeks Havana with GAST Cherry Bark (border) and Harvest Moon for the pumpkins.  DL helped with the floss toss but after stitching a few lines on the first pumpkin I may add Weeks Carrot for parts of pumpkin as well, finding the Harvest Moon hiding a bit in the Havana color.

Its my first 40ct project and so far so good.  After stitching a while and taking the pics, Harvest Moon is growing on me.

Well, Im off to watch the season ender to Haven :o)

Edit:  I had originally had Denise’s new niece as the person I got the coloring idea from on Pumpkins Three

A finish, a new start and other plans

I have a finish!!

La D Da’s Quaker Alphabet is done :o)

La D Da Quaker Alphabet 8-11-09

And I have a new start, I picked up Prairie Schooler Christmas Eve

image

and got started on it last night, knowing Quaker Alphabet was SO CLOSE to completion.  I wanted something to stitch on that I didnt have to mess with too much.

Here’s what I have done so far

PS Christmas Eve 8-11-09

I also have Sam Sarah’s Witch’s Hat and Witch’s Broom.  Both were too cute to pass up.  The hat will be stitched on lime green linen – Ive been itching to find something to stitch on that color and giddy to find it!.

imageimage

Im still working out in my brain what to stitch the broom on as I dont want to go as big as the model (20 ct)

Im also working on completing a baby sampler, getting the little one’s vitals stitched and then framed in time for mom to return to work after a nice long leave. :o)

Thx for stopping by

Fell behind

Not that its been quiet here but just havent had the energy to really post much.

I worked on La D Da’s Quaker Alphabet, a bit over the weekend and more tonight and finished the bottom motifs.

And I have a Tanglewood update, showing the finished peacock proudly perched on his branch.  Ive been working on completing page 2.

Tanglewood 7-8-09

Sadly Tanglewood isnt making it to the fair this year.  I should have it done for next.  I am proud for the push I did make to get it completed.  I dont think I would have gotten this far if I didnt.

Post-weekend updates

Ive so needed to post stitchy updates!  I spent most of today figuring out the VC silks for Mary Wigham sampler.  I worked off the color conversion Katrina created and shown on Mel’s blog.

Here is my list

End of a wonderful weekend

And it has been a glorious one at that.  Beautiful weather, slight breeze, freezing house (D likes it COLD) and I was able to surprise D for his b-day present.  Not often I can surprise him like that.

white-nerdy

Weird Al Yankovic has a parody to Riding Dirty by Camilionaire called White & Nerdy.  We love the video and D wanted the hoody.  Nice that it can be found on Weird Al’s site.

Now for the all importante’ stitchy stuff!

As I stated yesterday, I hit A&T before heading over to the SAL to get fibers for La D Da’s Quaker Alphabet I got from Cathy.

The fabric has lots of sparklies and I actually chose silk threads (so not me).

I have posting stuff

Really!!  Received La D Da Quaker Alphabet from Cathy this week along with the silks she used.  Today was the beginning of a all weekend long stitch group at Vickie’s and before I went I had to get to A&T for fabric and threads for my version.  Pictures will be taken and posted tomorrow – I actually got started on it tonight, one whole letter completed.  Other than that Ive been working on Tanglewood.

Tomorrow we are celebrating D & SIL birthdays.  Sushi, sandwiches, cake and ice cream.
