Ouch

I made an oops, a painful to the bank type of oops.  I melted the inside of D’s favorite jacket.  He got it free from work but will cost me $200 to replace.  And I will, eventually.  Something that I should easily save up for as Im not spending as much this year on stash.

How did I melt it?  The dryer was set to Maximum heat when I washed it.  Special plastic inside couldnt take the heat and fused.  This is what happens when one does not double check what settings are…

A good thing that happened today is D got the roof partially fixed.  Instead of making a small patch fix he pulled off that whole part of the roof.  Very impressive mess when I got home from shopping.  He was able to fix the problem (overlapping shingles so the water drops into the gutter – impressive thinking right?) and has 3/4 of the shingles replaced so far.  The rest will have to be finished during lunches Mon & Tues as Wed is bringing back the rain.  Will be nice not using all my towels to soak up the leaks.

Crazy Challenge – Today I started Fall Mandala by Ink Circles.  Fabric is 32ct Antique White and Im using most of the suggested DMC colors but changed 310 to 844.  I will be working on getting the outline complete before filling in all the colors.  It looks like a funky Fantasy writer’s map :o)

Flipp’n Challenge – Pirate’s Creed.  Main stitching on the skull is complete, now for all the back stitching.

Goals

I have a friend that does not make new year’s resolutions, she makes goals.  Explanation is so if they arent met, its a bit less depressing as it was a goal to be achieved.  And I like that.

So my goals for the year.

Stitch from stash – I have all I need for projects this year.  Thanks to the two challenges, Ive got plenty of projects to work on.

Keep chart spending to a min – There are a couple charts Im wanting to pick up this year, finish out the Anniversaries of the Heart series by BBD (3 + bonus left).  Other than that I want to keep those costs low.

Pay off dept – This is the year we take control and get the debt outta here.

Getting in shape – I had a good start last year, even made it through most of the summer but August was a tough month and I just stopped.  We’ve got the treadmill so there is no excuse.  I need to put this goal in front as I dont want to be a dough body any more.  At times I think I should use other things as a reward for walking but then it turns walking into a chore and who wants to do chores?

Stitching – What can I say, Ive got a busy year ahead of me.  Going through charts I had, magazines for ornaments and charts I had kitted was fun.  Going through WIPs was interesting.  To make my WIP list for the challenge I looked through my journal to see what still needed to get done but then going through the project bags and finding others that need/want to finish made the list harder.  I was reminded of how much some projects really had done and others that had only proprietary stitches added.  I think I may add more WIPs as I finish and keep a rolling 15 (can you say LARGE eyes?)

My current plan, outside starting 15 the first 15 days of Jan is to alternate new vs WIP during the week and on the weekends, if time allows work on one challenge in the morning and other in the afternoon/evening.

So in keeping with the weekend stitching here are my entries for today

'puter problems?

or pebkac? New computer, old monitor that doesnt want to cooperate with camera memory card = no pictures added to the blog. And I really have pictures!!

I havent worked on Housework since Sunday, wasnt able to bring any WIPs out during lunch Monday and we went shopping for a ... vacuum cleaner yesterday (took up all my stitching time but we so needed a new one). Creed managed to jump out a bit at lunch today, long enough for me to figure out how to fix my frog issue (aka misplaced stitch) and fix that one small section. And tonight, P's stocking - Mine All Mine, jumped off the WIP area and into my lap. Well, I did what every stitcher would do when faced with a NEW PROJECT. I got working :P Not much to see atm, just part of a wing but while the camera was out, I snapped.

I will post pictures using my laptop (I know that works) tomorrow morning, just not in the mood to wait the 10-15 min of start up time it takes to log in (darn work encryption)

I received the color changes for Celtic Autumn from Andie (thank you!!!) and its now on my wish list. With those changes in hand I went surfing to see how other color changes for the other seasons and WOW. Such thinking going on. There are changes including capes and hoods and completely different dresses... Now to only make the time and pick!

Happy 4th!!

Hope everyone had a great 4th!! We just finished lighting the last of the pile and are now winding down from a busy day.

I did manage to run past A&T today for stash. Picked up Pirate's Creed (cant recall designer atm) and Housework by LK. Had to get fabric for Beatings and thread for Housework and Creed was started tonight as it looks to be a quick stitch. That one will be hitting the office wall when complete :P

No pics of the stash, just didnt have the energy to drag all the gear out. Boys and I spent 4+ hrs in the yard this morning getting it mowed and under control. D spent the same amount of time baking cakes for P's family B-day party tomorrow. He promises me that I can have a small piece of the Triple Layer Chocolate Brownie cake he made. He also made a Poppy seed cake and both made the house very hard to stay in without grabbing a smidge to munch on.

Thx for stopping by :)
