Sunday Ponderings

Cats - why is it when cats sleep they try and curl up in the smallest ball possible?  Homer tries his best but somehow just cant get the ball shape tight enough.  Still looks damn cute.

Kids - how is it that a laugh from any child can bring a smile to your face?  (or is that a mom thing?)  DL & P were playing Super Smash Bro's Brawl and laughing like loons all day today.  Such a wonderful sound to hear.

Headaches - I do believe I have migraines.  Found that one of the only pills that will make the pain subside is the wonder mix of acetaminophen, aspirin & caffeine commonly found in otc migraine relief (such as Excedrin).  I was able to find a generic version that has exactly the same stuff for about $4 cheaper.  2 wonder pills and my headache is much bearable.  I do need to get my butt to the Dr for a better diagnosis I suppose...

Stitchy stuff - Tacky Bob,  little cd case with sticky stuff on the inside to tack beads on.  No more beads rolling off stuff!  I love it.  And there is a bonus on the back - a little magnetic strip for needles.

I was able to focus my brain a bit today to work some more x's on Holly.  She still doesnt look like much, I have no rhyme or reason as to why Im stitching the colors when I am.  To keep my brain a bit happy Im trying to stick to large same color patches :op

Tomorrow I will be on the phone to see if local Joann stores have 25ct DMC evenweave in stock (20x30).  Just with my recent try on LOTR with 28ct evenweave - I think I need to give 25ct a try and see if it works better.  Joanns has it in stock online but not online only (a plus Im thinking)

Fair question(s) -   I would like to put some of the finishes Ive done in the fair but a couple items have me wanting to old back.

1) Just how picky are county fair judges?  If I have a stitch missing, out of place, fabric showing between x's - how is that going to reflect?

2) Has anyone else had issues with treasures going missing?

3) Or going to a fair and not seeing your item because they only chose a select few to put on display?

Thx for all your comments :o)  It is always a joy opening my email and seeing I have mail from my stitcy friends.

  1. Holly is growing nicely, love the colours of this one.

As I suffer from migraines, i hope that's not what your experiencing , or if it is then I hope you can soon work out what causes them and do something about it.

  2. Hope you feel better: Excedrin always worked great on me but I'm not sure I can get them here ...

I love seeing progress pictures so thanks!

I'd like to read what informations you got about the fair.

  3. Hope you are feeling better!

Regarding your questions about fairs...I say try it out! I think that all if this varies greatly depending upon where you live. At the fairs that I have entered, there generally not a lot of stitching entries. I sometimes wonder if the judges even get up close to the pieces. I swear that sometimes it looks like they use the "oh, pretty!" method and give the ribbons to the biggest or sparkliest piece :)

  4. I've got no fair experience myself, but my sister has been entering her photography for years. She's never had anything turn up missing and they always display everything they accept.

Of course, when signing that little disclaimer form that you won't hold them responsible for missing items, you will have second thoughts. Like I do at the Woodlawn Needlework Show.

  5. Homer looks incredibly cuddley!

Definitely go for a diagnosis on your headaches. They have some very good medicines these days.

  7. Nah, it's not just a Mom thing that a child's laughter brings a smile to our faces. Happens to me all the time, and I'm not a Mom.

What' the generic brand that you found for migraines? I use the Excedrin migraine meds, but if there's something cheaper.. I'd be willing to try it.

It's been years since I've entered anything in the county fair, so I can't help ya there. Good luck, though!

  8. Homer is such a cutie, but then I'm a sucker for cats in general.

Caffeine actually boosts the effectiveness of many pain meds...that's why it's in Midol and such. You probably should go get a diagnosis for the headaches, though. At least rule out the more dangerous possibilities.

Holly is looking good. Hope you all get over your colds.
